About Dr. Kobakov
Dr. Mikhail Kobakov is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who believes strongly in providing “exceptional care without exception”. This mission statement belongs to the great Boston Medical Center where Dr. Kobakov completed his training and quickly became a part of his core beliefs. He believes that every procedure he performs should be his best work. He is very meticulous with everything he does. He loves to engage with his patients and believes that a complete understanding of any surgical procedure is integral to facilitating patient comfort.
Dr. Kobakov grew up in Cheshire, CT where he played eight years of football and participated in varsity track and field. He left CT to continue his education in Boston where he lived in South End. During his time there he was able to enjoy the beautiful state of Massachusetts with its rich history, picturesque nature, and of course some of the best sports teams in the country. It quickly became apparent to him that he would want to establish himself and raise a family in this great state.
Residency
Dr. Kobakov completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Boston University Medical Center which is a level 1 trauma center. His training included extensive experience with dentoalveolar surgery, implant surgery, orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint disorders, obstructive sleep apnea, and surgical oncology. He also trained at the Harvard-affiliated hospital Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with a specific emphasis on head and neck infections, maxillofacial trauma, and oral oncology. Furthermore, he also completed training at the Boston Veteran Affairs Hospital with a specific emphasis on dentoalveolar rehabilitation and implant surgery.
Education
Dr. Kobakov graduated Summa Cum Laude from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where he earned the American Society of Anesthesiologist Award for excellence in anesthesia. He was also inducted into OKU, a national honor society awarded to the top-ranked students of the graduating class. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Connecticut. After this he taught at Kaplan University, for both a DAT (Dental Admission Test) preparatory class and a high school math and science summer program.
Hobbies and Interests:
Dr. Kobakov has always had a strong desire to help his community. He has participated at multiple volunteer events including Mission of Mercy of Connecticut, a two-day event of providing dental care to the community. He has also traveled to Columbia with the Healing the Children Organization where he performed cleft lip and palate surgery. During his free time, he enjoys golfing and biking. A world traveler, his ultimate goal is to travel to every continent with his wife Nadia.
