About Dr. Colarusso
Dr. Carmine A. Colarusso is an experienced oral and maxillofacial surgeon serving patients in Leominster, Gardner, and communities throughout Central Massachusetts. He provides personalized surgical care with an emphasis on patient comfort, clear communication, and treatment plans tailored to each patient’s oral health needs.
A native of Medford, Massachusetts, Dr. Colarusso developed an interest in the precision and artistry of surgery while pursuing his advanced education. After completing his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency, he joined Central Mass Oral Surgery in 1999 and became a managing partner in 2001.
Dr. Colarusso understands that patients may feel uncertain or anxious about oral surgery. He and the Central Mass Oral Surgery team work to create a welcoming environment where patients can ask questions, understand their treatment options, and feel supported throughout their care.
Education
Dr. Colarusso earned his undergraduate degree from Colby College. He then attended the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1995.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency
Following dental school, Dr. Colarusso completed a four-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency through a combined training program involving Boston City Hospital, Boston University, and Tufts University.
Boston City Hospital later became part of Boston Medical Center. Dr. Colarusso’s additional residency institutions included the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
During his residency, Dr. Colarusso received extensive hospital-based training in oral and facial surgical procedures. His training included:
- Dental implant surgery
- Wisdom teeth removal
- Reconstructive facial surgery
- Bone grafting
- Tooth extractions
- Anesthesia for oral surgery
Patient-Focused Oral Surgery Care
Dr. Colarusso combines his surgical experience with a personalized approach to care. Before treatment, he takes time to evaluate each patient’s condition, discuss the recommended procedure, and address questions or concerns.
His goal is to help patients feel informed and comfortable while providing appropriate surgical treatment designed to restore oral health, function, and confidence.
Personal Interests
Outside the practice, Dr. Colarusso enjoys spending time with his wife and children. His family enjoys visiting their vacation home on Cape Cod, and he supports his children’s baseball and lacrosse activities. He is also a New England Patriots fan.
